Week 5 was a week of mixed results for CAPS kids as we played two U13 matches (CAPS Strikers vs. Tuskers and CAPS Warriors vs. TotallyIn2Cricket NextGen), one U11 match (CAPS Blasters vs. TotallyIn2Cricket Thunders) and a Div B match (CAPS SuperKings vs. CAPS KnightRiders).

U13 Match Report

Our first match CAPS Strikers vs. Tuskers which was a must win match for our team. We put on some awesome batting performance, thanks to some good batting performance by Surya Narayanan (35 of 30 balls) and Rahul Bonthu (31 of 56 balls). Towards the end, an awesome batting cameo by Santhosh Nandivada (22 of 15 balls) helped us score 144 runs in 25 overs. Even after such good batting performance, we lost the match as Krish Katre (69* of 80 balls) from Tuskers took them to a nail biting finish, scoring 146 in 24 overs. Our next U13 match was between CAPS Warriors and TotallyIn2Cricket NextGen. Our goal was to win this match with the bonus point. So we choose to bowl, hoping to restrict the first innings to a low score. Unfortunately, due to some dropped catches and missed chances, our team ended up giving 120 runs in 25 overs. This could have been a par score with potentially a last over finish.

But Ishaan Taj had different plans. His 40* of 42 balls kept our current run rate higher than the required rate and we scored 121 runs in 17.1 overs, hence earning the bonus points. Of course Man of the Match is Ishaan Taj.

Ishaan was hoping that there were more runs on the board, as that he could score his first half century. Well here is a quote from coach Sohrab to address his concerns

Given your current form, your half century is right around the corner. So keep your head down and keep scoring. Don’t forget to have fun.

U11 Match Report

Our U11 match, CAPS Blaster vs. TotallyIn2Cricket Thunders, ended up being a walk in the park for our team. We won the toss and choose to bowl first. Thanks to some wonderful bowling performance by Yatin Mokana, Karan Anand, Neil Parikh and Aadya Naidu we got the batting side all out for 76 runs. Then some amazing batting by Kush Mittal (27 runs in 17 balls) ensured that we completed our run chase in 9.2 overs, hence finishing the match with the bonus point. Div B Match Report

Our Div B kids have started playing matches too and they have been developing their game well. First they picked some happening cricket team names (of coursed influenced by IPL) as they named their teams CAPS SuperKings (CSK) and CAPS KnightRiders (CKR). They played a match on Saturday which saw some great performances by all kids. Raghav Kalyana Sundaram, Aayush Chulki, Neil Sharotri, and Rishi Dilip bowled well in the game; Parthiv Saravanan and Rishi Dilip showed some amazing batting skills with some good shots. Hamid Shahab impressed everyone with his hitting capability and bowling the week before. Here is the scorecard link
