Strategy

Our second game against Tuskers was a crucial one for us because we just lost the first one. It was a must win match for us. The coaches planned the game so we can win and make our way confidently into the playoffs. The plan was to bat first if we win the toss, and put a high score on the board with a different batting order. Then we would restrict their batting with tight fielding and wicket-taking bowling.

The captains from each team met with the umpire for the toss and the Strikers won the toss, choosing to go ahead with their strategy of batting first.

First Innings

Santosh Nandivada and Karan Anand went to open the batting for the Strikers. They were going well for the first 6 overs of the innings, scoring 30 runs. However, due to Arjun Bhat’s 3 wickets and Kaushik Attuluri’s 2 wickets, the Striker’s main batting quickly collapsed except for Santosh. He scored 45 runs off 55 balls, largely contributing to the Striker’s score. Near the end of the innings, Rushil Molleti and Yatin Mokana had an excellent partnership of 35 runs in the last 6 overs of the innings, which boosted the Strikers to 107 in 25 overs. This score is considered below par.

Second Innings

In the second innings of the game, Strikers knew that they had to give their best to win the match. Karan Anand bowled an excellent bowling spell (8 runs in 5 overs, 2 crucial wickets taken) in the first 12 overs of the game. This, along with Yatin Mokana’s tight 3 overs helped constrict the Tuskers to a low score of 37 runs in the first 12 overs.

Due to this, the Strikers were back in the game. With high spirits, we bowled an excellent last 13 overs. This included some incredible spells by Santosh Nandivada, Surya Narayanan, and Rahul Bonthu. The crucial wicket of Krish Katre was taken, and then our amazing fielding helped win the game for the Strikers by 10 runs!
